ONLINE MUSIC STREAMING - SOUNDCLOUD

Posted by: Søren in Music

Are mix CD's going to die? The thought struck me today, when I was browsing the online music website SoundCloud (SoundCloud is an online audio platform catering to the music professionals enabling them to collaborate, promote & distribute their music online). As with everything else on the internet, music has for a long period also been free (YouTube + tons of other streaming services) - If you are satisfied with online streaming and not actually downloading the music to your harddisc.

The above example emphasises the trend, that all content on the internet is going to be free. If you want to listen to a Mixed CD before you buy it, you can actually put your browser to www.soundcloud.com and stream the entire mix. And buy the CD afterwards if you really need to get the CD physically.

Because of a forthcoming art exhibition at the media house "Ingeniøren" one of my most loyal clients (and girlfriend), Mette Dixen, wanted a new and more flexible website to present her paintings, resume etc.

I ended up using the designer friendly CMS Indexhibit as platform. Indexhibit is a web application used to build and maintain an archetypal, invisible website format that combines text, image, movie and sound.

ADDTHIS ON ORNHOLT.DK

During the last year or so the wave of web 2.0 has been very dominating on the internet. Knowledge sharing on various platforms is the keyword. And since I want so share my "knowledge" I also integrated a way to share and interact my blog post on ornholt.dk with other users.

To do so I integrated a small javascript code on my website developed by a company named AddThis. You have probably seen this feature before. Nevertheless I find the method very cool.

Some months ago I bought an EP with the Danish band When Saints Go Machine. The EP is named When Saints Go Machine and the best track on the release is a track called "Pale".

Now the track has been rereleased with club remixes from the Spanish producer Pablo Bolivar. The result is two cool club tracks with some nice vocals on. Take a listen below and read more about the release here.

APPLE WIRED MIGHTY MOUSE

I have been using Apple's Mighty Mouse for the last 4 years. During this period I have had 2 of them. And now I actually need to get a third one. But I am not going to buy my third Mighty Mouse from Apple. I am normally a sucker for Apple products, but in relation to the Mighty Mouse I am very disappointed.

First of all the Mouse is way to expensive compared to other substantial products. I appreciate the design of the Mighty Mouse, but I am much more interested in functionality and stability. 2 things you actually won't get with the Mighty Mouse. The scroll function is after some month of use, useless. I had to clean my Mighty Mouse every third day after 3 days of use. I used my mouse a lot, but it is still very disappointing.

SHORTEN URLS

Posted by: Søren in Technology

As Twitter is growing, the need for shorter links is increasing rapidly. A lot of software can shorten urls, if needed. But on a lot of websites you can actually shorten your urls online. Very much needed if you want to tweet,  via a computer without any shorten urls software installed.

Bit.ly is one website I prefer, where you can shorten, share, track your links etc.

About bit.ly:
bit.ly
allows users to shorten, share, and track links (URLs). Reducing the URL length makes sharing easier. bit.ly can be accessed through our website, bookmarklets and a robust and open API. bit.ly is also integrated into several popular third-party tools such as Tweetdeck. A more full list of third party tools can be found on the bit.ly blog. Unique user-level and aggregate links are created, allowing users to view complete, real-time traffic and referrer data, as well as location and metadata. Tracking stats are available after users shorten their long links with bit.ly by clicking on the “Info+” link on bit.ly, or just adding a “+” sign to the end of any bit.ly link (for example, http://bit.ly/n0og+).

Go shorten your links here.
