It was a perfect day when I had the pleasure of running Copenhagen Marathon 2008 the 18th of May. In 2002 I managed to carry through Copenhagen Marathon in 3.28 hours, which I consider as an acceptable debut perfomance (I only trained 3 weeks ). My ultimate goal this year was to beat my time from 2002.
The weather conditions was optimal (15 degress), which I believe had some of the saying in my very satisfactory result. I crossed the finishing line in 3.10 hours, and the last 2 km I even managed to spurt even though my legs suffered great pain after 40 kilometres of running.
It was a great feeling to beat my time from 2002. At that time I did not structure my run very well and lost a lot of time on the last 21 kilometres. This year I had another strategy....
I tried to save some "power" for the last 21 kilometres. I ran the first half in 01:32:26 and the second half in 01:37:42 and came in as runner number 392 out of 6557. During the entire Marathon I had great support from my girlfriend and my sister and her boyfriend.
Thanks!

Running a Marathon is not only about running. Getting up early and have a strong cup of coffee and a lot of porridge (carbonhydrates is the keyword) is very important!
