FACEBOOK DEALS IN DENMARK
Posted by: Søren on Oct 29, 2011
The most popular social network in Denmark, Facebook is about to launch Facebook Deals, which is all about presenting discount for users from companies like McDonalds and 7Eleven. The idea is based on the "check in" GPS function in the Facebook application, and with Facebook Deals users can spot "Deals" from companies or shops in the area, and see if there is a "Deal" like e.g. discount on a McDonalds burger.
If the user/consumer likes the offer, let's say the burger, they click on it, and shows their phone to the staff in the restaurant they will get the burger, and the "Deal" will be announced on the comsumers Facebook wall.
Simple as that.
I believe Facebook Deals will be a success in Denmark, because we are almost 3 million Facebook users, and at the same time we are a nation that like discounts and offers. From a company perspective "Facebook Deals" can be an effective marketing option, if the discount is worth "checking in" for.
If Facebook Deals becomes a success Facebook will be even more powerfull in terms of the personal information and consumer insight they own, and they will be able to sell the information for big bucks to "hungry" companies.
Anyways. Bring on some "Deals". I am hungry and is about to check in at McDonalds.
