The last couple of months I got a lot of spam comments on my website which is absolutely annoying. To avoid spam comments I decided to require that visitors need to login before the can comment on blog posts.
In Joomla you can choose to let your visitors login with the standard login features which normally function very well. But after some research I found a Joomla component named ITPConnect which integrates Facebook's connection with Joomla.

Dear Copenhagen is a new internet based project, where you can share large and small thoughts about Copenhagen - the word is free for everyone. There is no room for long posts - but short messages in maximum 250 letters. Nice and funny project.
Check out the website here and write a message to Copenhagen!

The conference: New Media Days 2009 took place in Copenhagen last week. The conference is all about discussing the implications and impact in the change of how we use the "new" media nowadays.
On the website of New Media Days 2009 I found an interesting lecture held by the internet visionary Clay Shirky named: New Motivations and Opportunities - Understanding the Amateur Producer.

During the last year or so the wave of web 2.0 has been very dominating on the internet. Knowledge sharing on various platforms is the keyword. And since I want so share my "knowledge" I also integrated a way to share and interact my blog post on ornholt.dk with other users.
To do so I integrated a small javascript code on my website developed by a company named AddThis. You have probably seen this feature before. Nevertheless I find the method very cool.

If you are running an iPhone or other mobile website and want to find out if the website is really mobile-friendly point your web browser to http://waxler.w3.org/mobileok/index.html.
W3C mobileOK Checker is a part of the The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) which is an international community where Member organizations, a full-time staff, and the public work together to develop Web standards. W3C's mission is to lead the Web to its full potential. And now W3C realized the need for an mobile friendly web checker in order to make mobile websites even better. I tried out the mobile checker for my iPhone optimized website. I got a few errors (external link).

As Twitter is growing, the need for shorter links is increasing rapidly. A lot of software can shorten urls, if needed. But on a lot of websites you can actually shorten your urls online. Very much needed if you want to tweet, via a computer without any shorten urls software installed.
Bit.ly is one website I prefer, where you can shorten, share, track your links etc.
About bit.ly:
bit.ly allows users to shorten, share, and track links (URLs). Reducing the URL length makes sharing easier. bit.ly can be accessed through our website, bookmarklets and a robust and open API. bit.ly is also integrated into several popular third-party tools such as Tweetdeck. A more full list of third party tools can be found on the bit.ly blog. Unique user-level and aggregate links are created, allowing users to view complete, real-time traffic and referrer data, as well as location and metadata. Tracking stats are available after users shorten their long links with bit.ly by clicking on the “Info+” link on bit.ly, or just adding a “+” sign to the end of any bit.ly link (for example, http://bit.ly/n0og+).
Go shorten your links here.

I do have a conflict of interest! On one hand I love the Internet for being what it is (no reason to mention all the things the internet has changed - in a positive way). Having finished what I would call my education on paper (A Msc. in economics & marketing) I am to make a choice about which direction my forthcoming career (basically I just need a job really:)) is going to point. No doubt I am going to put all my energy and time in a job where online brand building...bla...bla...something has to be a part of my job description. But but:
I hate banner advertising. An example from the real world. The danish magazine Cover is a good example. They had a really nice website from the beginning. Suddenly a lot of people visit this website. And suddenly the website is full of internet banners/advertising. And I simply hate that. Irritating and frustrating (and boring) web banners all over the place.

What do you do when you are in Ajstrup in a summer cottage without internet broadband?
Well. If you do not need to get on the internet you just enjoy your holiday. But on the other hand if you just are an internet freak and cannot do without internet and owe an iPhone here goes the solution to get on the internet through your iPhone (without an broadband connection), with a new feature named "tethering". Tethering means that you can get a computer on the internet via network connection on iPhones.

A rising interest in mobile browsing on iPhones has increased the demand for mobile optimized websites. From a business point of view there are many reasons to have an eye on this trend. The mobile generation consumer segment is rapidly rising in Europe. This trend is mainly driven by smartphones and especially Apple's iPhone (Source: Børsen). To meet this development a lot of companys need to get themselves an iPhone/mobile website - a least to make a buzz out of themselves.
Having developed my own iPhone optimized website I have been forced to take some controversial decisions. Can you force a internet browser to redirect him/her to another website automatically? Well. Depends on many things. After all I decided to give the user the opportunity to make the decision themselves - either to watch an website in an iPhone optimized version or in a full version. If you do not want to give the user this option, but just want to redirect an iPhone user directly. Well. Take a look on the scripts below:
